Hi Jeffrey I realise it was quite a while ago when you posted this, but I've only just found it now. I'm researching Hoey's from Sunderland, who originated from Ireland, Co. Louth I think, during the Potato Famine. My g grandfather was Owen Hoey b1875. He married Sarah Jane Stephenson and had 7 children. John Hoey (1914) George Hoey (1915) Eleanor Hoey (1916) Lilly (1917) Victoria May (1918) Margaret Ann (1921) and Hugh Hoey (1922). I think the years of birth might be approximate. Owen's father was also called Owen (1847), born in Sunderland. He married Jane Deas (1851) and had the following children: Margaret A Hoey (1872) Owen Hoey (1875) Mary Hoey (1877) Jane Hoey (1879) It was this Owen's father, John Hoey (1806) that was born in Ireland. John apparently had a brother called Owen who was 10 years older than him. It's this ancestor that I'm having alot of trouble chasing. I know it's alot of information, but does this sound like your Hoey family? I'd really appreciate any help or advise. Thanks Jane Notify Administrator about this message?
