Probably no difference. The oe appears to be a substitue for an "o" with an umlut = ". "Hof" refers to an estate.
"Ler" refers to a person or family that works the land on the estate. The "hoefflers"/ "hoeflers"/hoefmanns?", etc. were probably those who worked the land of someone of higher social status.
