I am looking for any branches of the Haefele family who originally settled - at least for a few years - in southern Indiana. All of my ggrandfather's siblings left that area in the late 1860's, early 1870's. I have found family histories and documentation on the where-abouts of all but 2 of these siblings. One still unknown, Frederick, was said to have settled in Ohio. (My grandmother told family years ago that she thought it was Cleveland, but I have found a lot of her information to be off somewhat for other family members!) So far, I have found possible evidence of Frederick's family here and there - based completely on first names written on the back of an old family photo. The couple standing in the center of the family photo only go by "Vater" and "Mutter", but because I have found some of the other somewhat unusual names in death records, etc in Ky and Ohio, I am assuming "Vater" may be Frederick or one of his sons.
The original spelling of Häfele has been changed numerous times. For instance, I found one brother who settled in Missouri listed in a bio as "Hafely".
Anyway, it's a long shot to be writing you, but I thought since you had a photo maybe we could do some comparisons. My gggrandfather, by the way, went by Henry. His official name was Georg Heinrich. He left southern Indiana too, and I have yet to find his grave. But that is another story-another search!
Let me know if you think there may be a connection.
