Debbie: I have little info on James Hodo, b 7 Oct 1826, m. Louisa Koffler b.Nov 1834,on 9 Sep 1865, Shiloh, St. Clair Cty, Il. Little is known of this James. My GF-James J. Hodo b 30 May 1866, said James was blacksmith. Try 1870 Census. He drank heavily. He didn't like having 3 little boys, so he left home when they were 10 or so. My GF saw him only time just before he died. No date for that visit. I assumed the late 1890's. Louise Koffler Botzler Hodo Arnold, came from Baden, Germany, at 17 to Galveston, TX, according to family lore. She going to Missouri to meet her sister. She did & married a man named George Botzler & had one son before he was injured in the Civil War & died. I learned her real name using Civil War Pension information.(Barphous not her name)It was a mistake used on the D Cert. of my grandfather,Ellis Cty,TX.
