I understand that my grandfather was originally from near the Roanoke area. His name Was George Hodges. He moved with two of his brothers to the Kanawha City WV area in the early 1900's. Most of our family is now residing in that area. I believehis father's (or perhaps uncle's)name was Ferdinand. It is my understanding that the first Hodges in our line in America was some kind of minor officer in Cornwallis'Army. He fought in thewar of 1812. He somehow left the army and entered America through Baltimore Md.I hope this info might give you some clues or is useful to someone. I am just beginning my search.
