Meshack "Mace" Hodge(s) born abt 1826 in Kentucky

I am trying really hard to research this part of my tree and I keep coming up virtually empty handed. My GGG grandfather is Meshack (Mace) Hodges. He married Nancy Caroline Bozarth. I have heard that he died abt 1874 in Taney Co Missouri...story goes a tree fell on him while he was cut'n it down. Nancy Caroline then moved to Johnson Co Arkansas and remarried to James Calhoun Shackleford. I have that Meshack and Nancy had the following children. I would gladly take corrections or any missing info.

Richard Austin Hodge(s) 1856-1932
married Elizabeth Sarah Marler
Rachel E Hodge(s) 1857-1889
married Marshall A Thomas
Nancy Melinda Hodge(s) 1859-1939
married Ed Wesley McAlester
John Wesley Hodge(s) 1861-1937
married Winnie Elizabeth Bean? and Caddy Cooksey
Margaret (Maggie) Hodge(s) 1864-1944 (my GG grandmother)
married Jesse Green Carter
Polly Ann Hodge(s) 1867-?
Rebecca Alice Hodge(s) 1874-1962
married John Brady Dixon

I do have more info on these children but to keep it short this is basically the family I am researching. Any help on who Meshack's father and mother might have really been would be nice...I have heard his father's name was John and mother's name was Mary Acuff
