Clifton,
I am researching Hodge in NY state, but I read your posting. I checked the 1880 census (index is available for free online). There was a James Hodges in Limestone County, Al who was born in 1813. He reported that he and his parents were born in Tennessee.

I looked for Andrew Williams in Alabama but found none. There were several Mary Williams in various states who had been born in Tennessee.
