I am trying to find a crack in one of my ever present "brickwalls", and thought I'd do some creative posting to approach the problem in another direction. I am looking for the family of Estelle Howell, who married John T. Hodges, 1889, Greene Co., Ga. Estelle's parents were Jesse M. Howell, b. 1837(+/-)and Mary W. "Polly" -?- (possibly Howell, as lore holds they were first cousins),b.1845. Estelle had a son, Ernest. Also, Estelle's sibs were: Jesse M., Joseph J.(my g/grandfather), Jeb S., Cleo (married Henry Francis, lived in Crestview, Florida ownded a blueberry farm), and possibly another sister, Illa, unknown her married name, but again lore holds she invented the folding steps for passenger cars on the rail roads. --actually, this is reasonable considering both Jeb and Joseph were iron workers, Jeb was a farrier, and Joseph a master blacksmith, he did many areas of iron work, the steel frame on the 9 story (sky scrapper) building in Pensacola, worked at the Pensacola Navy Yard on ship's hull, and more importantly did quite a bit of work for Southern Railway repairing locomotive engines. That's about it. The Howell family were known to have lived in Greene and Hancock Counties from the early 1800's until the late 1890's. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
