I can give you their exact dates - or at least what their tombstone in tiny Cowhick Cemetery, just south of Winchester in Scott County, Illinois, says.William was born 5 June 1787 and died 12 April 1830.Rebecca was born 5 August 1783 and died 12 April 1863.Her 1850 and 1860 Census entries both say she was born in North Carolina, and all of their surviving children in 1880 said both their parents were born in North Carolina.
Their four oldest children were born in Kentucky between 1814 and 1819, but the youngest was born in Illinois in 1822.I don't know for sure when they went to Morgan County, but they're there in the 1830 Census.I believe (and I don't have the notebook with this in it here) that William bought land in Morgan County, Illinois, in 1827.He usually doesn't appear in the earliest settlers lists, and I wonder if that's because he stopped off somewhere else on his way.
Sounds like you have a lot of Hodges information...Hope we can make mine match up.Thanks.
