PFC Joe/Joel Hodge in Guam
While going through my recently deceased mother's papers I found a letter from a soldier named Joe/Joel Hodge stationed in Guam during WWII.It was not a love letter but just a letter during wartime. She had evidently written him and he was writing back to her.My mother lived in SC, but Joe refers to Tennessee as his home. The letter mentions someone named James who seems to know my mother and he is in Guam, too.The letter is dated April 20, 1947.Joel's address is listed as Hq, Sqdn, 31st ASG.APO 334.On the inside of the letter it says Guam.I have done research on the 31st ASG and learned that they were an Air Service Group for the 39th Bomb Group based in Guam from 1945 to 1948 at North Field. There was a picture of Joe in the envelope, but it is so dim you can barely see who is in it.I am curious about who Joe/Joel is and I would be glad to send a copy of the letter and picture to his family if they are interested.
