The state of South Carolina

Know all men by these presents that I, Benjamin Hodge of Richland District, in the state aforesaid in consideration of $1100 to me paid by William Stack and Thomas Sligh of Richland district in the state aforesaid have granted, bargained, sold, and released, and by these presents, do grant, bargained, sell and release, unto the said William Stack and Thomas Sligh all that tract of land containing 300 acres more or less situate in Richmond district on Crane Creek waters of broad River being the same conveyed to Thomas T. Willisson court in equity to Daniel L Smith and by said Smith to Benjamin Hodge Junior [illegible] records in register mesne conveyance office Richland District book M pages 24 and 25. Also a tract of land adjoining the above containing 106 acres more or less conveyed by Sheriff Jesse Debruhl to me as [illegible] record book him page 329.

Together with all and singular the rights, members, hereditaments, and appurtenances to the said premises belonging, or in any wise incident or appertaining, to have and to hold, all and singular the premises before mentioned unto the said William Stack and Thomas Sligh their heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby bind myself my heirs, executors and administrators to warrant and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said William Stack and Thomas Sligh their heirs and assigns, against myself and my heirs, and all other persons lawfully claiming, or to claim the same or any part thereof

Witness my hand and seal this fifth day of December in the year of our Lord 1834 and in the year of the independence of the United States of America

Personally appeared before me Eli Kennerly and made oath that he saw Benjamin him Hodge sign, seal and deliver the above conveyance for the uses and purposes therein mentioned and that he with William Hilleary in the presence of each other witness the due execution thereof.

I, Jesse Debruhl, one of the justices assigned to the [illegible] quorum, do hereby certify unto all to whom it may concern that Margaret Hodge the wife of the within named Benjamin Hodge did this day appear before me and upon being privately and separately examined by me did declare, that she does freely, voluntarily, and with out any compulsions, dread or fear of any person or persons whomsoever, renounced, release, and forever relinquish on to the within named William Stack and Thomas Sligh their heirs and assigns, all her interest and estate and also all her right and claim of dower, of, in or to all and singular the premises within mentioned and released unto the said William Stack and Thomas Sligh.
