Rena, Well the Hodders could have come from Bristol because there is a link with Newfoundland, John Cabot discoverd it and sailed on the Matthew from Bristol, In fact I sailed on a number of ships to Newfoundland to the grandbanks it was always foggy,We still have the replica of the ship which came to Newfoundland two years ago, I could try and look up the records next time I am in Bristol, I live about twenty miles away, could you let me have any records you have and I will see what I can find. The records go back to 1550 before that most of the records are in latin, but as I said beforethey could have been fishermen from Dorset there are more little ports there and the tide does not fall to much, the second highest rise and fall in the world is near Bristol and wait for it the highest is Newfoundland. keith.
