I am looking for the parents of my great granadfather, George Hodder b 3 Sept 1831 in Bridport, Dorsetshire, England according to his US citizenship papers. He immigrated to Oshawa, Ontario at the age of 17 c. 1849. By 1857, he is listed in a history of Oshawa ad a tailor outfitter and merchant. He married Mary Bethia Montgomery on Dec. 25, 1857 in Bowmanville, Canada. They had 8 children born in Oshawa, Ontario. The 1881 Canadian Census lists his children & birthdates. The oldest 4 lived their lives in Canada. 3 (George A., John F>M., Alfred)in the Port Arthur section and 1 (William E.)in British Columbia. I know who they married but do not have any death information on them. The four younger children, James B., Mary Gertrude, Lillian Edith, and Frank Rainsford, lived their lives in the Blackstone, MA and Woonsocket, RI. Know their marriages, children, & places of burial.
His father was a John Hodder and his mother was Sarah______? Couldn't find a John Hodder & Sarah of the right age for a son George born 1831 on Ancestry.
