Thanks for your answer.
Do you know anything about your HOCUTT FAMILY, and where they lived in Johnston Co., N.C.? Did they live around the Neuse River, or Bear Creek?
When I was on my way up to Beech Mountain, N.C., for the summer, I was driving by way of Raleigh to do some research. I drove by way of Charleston, S.C. and crossed over by way of Smithfield, N.C., and White Lake. Not too far from White Lake I happened to notice a street sign that was "MALPASS". Being as inquisitive as I am, I turned around, went down the road until I found an occupied home. The wonderful family that lived there invited me in. I told them my story, and they said the Malpass family had not lived there for a long time. Obviously, this family had lived there at one time.
If you have seen the land records that you seem to read, then you must know that the MALPASS and the HOCUTT FAMILY had to have been related, along with the WILLIAMSONS, since there were an awful lot of land records that had all of the names mentioned in them.
I am most interested in finding out about the connection with the HOCUTT & WILLIAMSONS. My earliest documented ancestor, as I have written before was WILLIAM WILLIAMSON (1767), but his wife's name was MARY. I believe the MARY who was mentioned in the early Bertie Land Records was my ancestor, since after her MALPASS husband died, she married a WILLIAM WILLIAMSON. This is the link that I am trying to connect.
If you do have any data about these families, I would be greatly appreciative for it.
Thanks again, and good luck on your search.
