Unfortunately, you have a lot of spurious information.1.The first known Hockaday in America is one Wm. Hockaday, born about 1610 in Blissland Parish,Cornwall. He is known to have at least one son named John. There is no Documentation to link that John to Warrwick Hockaday. In fact it is not known whether Warwick was born in VA. or England. The William you are referring to was born about 1600-no documentation as to father OR place of birth. His wife is known to be named Rebecca ?It, again, is only speculation that she wasan Armstead. This idea apparently started with W. Norris, now deceased, who gathered a huge volume of information on the Hockaday family, too much of it based on speculation. One thought to remember is that John, son of Wm. Hockaday of Blissland, would have been about 70 years old in 1699. Not impossible to sire a child, but highly unlikely. There are NO documented connections between William 1st and his son, John, and ANY of the other Hockadays of early Virginia. All of us Hockadays are left dangling with the following Hockadays at the top of the DOCUMENTED lines from New Kent Co., which include the following names as progenators of the various lines.1.William-1699?;Warwidk, 1699 ?; another William, 1731;Edmund;and Philemon (my line). The all lived in New Kent Co., but relationship CANNOT be PROVED at this time.Everyone who researches VA should be aware of the problems with the so called "burned" counties there.
