To all of you researching the Hockaday name- Please refer to two notable sources. 1. The LDS International Genealogical Index under Devon and Cornwall. and more importantly for all of us, the extensive research of LCol. James W. Doyle, Jr , published in a long series of articles on the Virginia Hockadays beginning with Volume 2, No. 2 , Aug./ Sept. 1993 of the Tidewater Virginia Families, A Magazine of History and Genealogy, published by Virginia Lee Hutcheson Davis, 316 Littletown Quarter, Williamsburg, VA., 23185. Pat Doyle will not blow his own horn, but he has done a monumental amount of research on the Hockadays.
