My husband was born in McNairy County in West Tn. I have always been told there were 2 different sets of Hockaday's in Selmer that were not related. I figured with a name like Hockaday surely they were somehow! I would like to find out about his family for my children especially since I have traced my family tree.
I have very little information about his family. His grandfather was O.D. Hockaday born 12-18-1894 and died 4-15-1983. He was married to Ema Eller Romine who was born 5-17-1898 and died 3-28-1939. She is a full blooded Indian, but I have forgotten what kind. All of their children have passed away and dumb me just wasn't interested in family trees when they were all still alive to help me. They had several children, well one is still alive but doesn't live close by. I really need to get some info from her I guess while I can!
If anyone has any information, I would really appreciate it. I have very much enjoyed reading from the message board tonight. I have always been asked where the Hockaday name came from and now I know!
