Henry Clay was my uncle. On his return trips from the Congo he used to thrill (scare?) us kids with stories of cobras, savage natives, etc. Although a missionary, he could spin tall yarns with the best of them. Your GG Grandfather (Washington B.) and GG Grandmother (Catherine Key) had 12 chidren among whom were my dad (Francis M.) and your G Grandfather (Henry Clay). Research performed by a relative shows our lineage going like this:

Shadrack Hapgood b. 1642 England; d.1675 W. Brookfield, Worcester Co., MA
Thomas b. circa 1664 ?; d. 1739 Norfolk Co., VA
Thomas b. circa 1695 Norfolk Co. VA; d. circa 1755 Norfolk Co., VA
Hezekiah b. circa 1726 Norfolk Co. VA; d. ? Granville Co., NC
John b. circa 1763 ?; d. ? Webster Co., KY
Thomas G. b. 8 Oct 1797 Granville Co., NC; d. 3 May 1883 Hopkins Co., KY
Lewis P. b. 1821 Granville Co., NC; d. 2 Oct 1878 Hopkins Co., KY
Washington B. (Wash) b. 19 Jan 1849 Hopkins Co., KY; d. 13 May 1917 Hopkins Co., KY

I have been unable to verify the link between Shadrack Hapgood and the first Thomas Hobgood. Any info in this regard will be appreciated.
