Hi, I am new to this but have always wanted to look into the Hobby/Hobbie family history. I am from the New York area as were all the ancestors that I know of. My last name is Hobbie, but one story says that the name was changed from Hobby. I was always told it was a Dutch name, but from what I have been readin here it seems like at least one line was from Wales. Does anyone have any information on the name Hobbie coming directly from Hobbie and has anyone else heard of a Dutch connection, supposedly from the early settlers of New Amsterdam?
