John Hobough, Missouri & Kansas

I am looking for any information on John Hobough, b. ca. 1837, Missouri; d. 25 July 1865, Montgomery, Alabama in the Civil War.

John first appears as a farm laborer in Iowa Twp., Doniphan Co., Kansas Territory, age 24, single, born in Mo. (1860 Federal census, vol 1, pg 418).

He marries Nancy DeVault Mathewson, a widow with 7 children, on 7 Sept 1862, in Brown Co., KS. Their first child, Martha, was born 28 January 1864. A second child, Charley, would be born in 1866 and die in infancy.

John Hobough would be a member of the Co. D. Regiment Kansas Volunteers, drafted Feb 28, 1865.

That's all I know for sure of John. However,...

To the east of Doniphan Co., KS, just across the river, is Andrew Co., MO. Living in Andrew Co. in 1850 is the family of John and Rebecca (Clark) Hobough. John is not listed with them but he is the right age to be part of the family. The children listed are:

Andrew 15, b. MO (all children are born in Missouri)
Mary 14
Elizabeth 14
Lutitia 9
Francis F 9
Thomas 6
Ann 6
Nancy 1

Rebecca is age 25, b. Ohio. John is age 48, b. North Carolina. From the 1850 Andrew Co Missouri marriage records, I know that she was John's second wife. She is listed as Mrs. Rebecca Clark.

By 1857, this family would be in Doniphan Co., KS where on 22 Dec 1857 Elizabeth (age 14 above) would marry Enoch Gandee.

Is John a son of John Hobough Sr and his first wife?
Does anyone have any information on these two families?

Many thanks for any clues,
Victoria
