Hi, I have traced my own family back to John Hobart born about 1774 in Suffolk, UK. I therefore would like to trace anything further back.

You were right about the connection with the "Earl" of Buckingham and it might be of assistance to you in your research to know that Bickling Hall in the County of Suffolk was the home of the Hobarts' and Sir Henry Hobart, Lord Chief Justice to James I. The site is worth a visit and mentions the Earls of Bockingham.

Regards,

George Hobart
