Hoban Family Genealogy Forum

Yes there is a connection there, although it was cut quite awhile back. Once everyone was cleared through Ellis Island (I have the ship manifests) the family kind of split up. Some stayed in Ontario and others came to Manitoba. Those who came to Manitoba ended up in Beausejour and Selkirk, later in Winnipeg. My great grandfather started Hoban's Park in Beausejour, while his relatives (yours) migrated to Winnipeg. I do remember as a little girl going to Hoban's garage on Logan Ave to visit my dad's cousin. Would that be your grandfather? I imagine so as I am 40 and my dad would be almost 61 were he still alive. He died of cancer almost 10 years ago. I have so much info as my dad spent almost 10 years researching the history before he became ill. I also have many pictures if you are interested. Please let me know what info, if any, your grandmother has as I have some holes she can probably help fill. you said you just became a dad, is it your first and what did you have? My kids are 20 and 18, both boys.
Hope this helps info helps and between us we can fill in the holes. Take care and hope to hear from you soon.
