On July 5, 2013, at the age of 81, Donald Hoare took his final train ride to his heavenly home. Born in Calgary Alberta, the only child of Barbara and Ernest Hoare, Donald was a lifelong Bowness resident, living in a beautiful location chosen by his father before him. At the age of seventeen, Donald met the love of his life, Etta Gallaher. They were wed the next year and shared 63 wonderful years together. In 1949, Donald began his career with the Canadian Pacific Railway; trains were his profession, but also his passion. He began work as a coach cleaner and dedicated 42 years to the company, retiring in 1991 as the manager of Alyth Diesel Shops in Calgary. In his home life he and Etta enjoyed traveling. He also gave his love to numerous foster babies, a joy and a calling he shared with Etta throughout their marriage.Donald is survived by his wife Etta, his children Donald (Tina) Hoare Jr., Terry (Hank) Biesbroek, Tracy (Randall) Harvey, Glen (Colleen) Hoare, Virginia Hoare, and Joni Righthand. His grandchildren Colleen (Matthew) Loewen, Kevin Hoare, Cynthia (Trevor) Compton, David (Share) Biesbroek, Sean (Susan) Biesbroek, Rebecca and Jonathan Harvey, Mariah, Abbigail and Natasha Hoare and Tyler Ford. His great-grandchildren Corban, Elsie, Nathan, Matthew, Lashae, Isaac, Mackenzie and Lauren. We will miss Donald’s gentle spirit, kind loving heart and his giving nature. Interment will be at Queen’s Park Cemetery, followed by a Memorial Service at First Alliance Church (12345 40th Street SE) on Thursday, July 11, 2013 at 1:00 pm. Donald’s family thank the palliative and Revera nurses for their kind consideration and care. Photos, memories and condolences may be shared with Donald’s family through www.evanjstrong.com.
