Seeking relatives of Roman Catholic Bishop of Ardagh and Clonmacnois, Joseph Hoare. Born Ballymahon, Co. Longford in 1842 to John Hoare and Mary Donoghue - he was one of eight children, educated locally and at Mount Melleray, Co. Waterford, ordained priest by Cardinal Cullen Maynooth College 1867, ministered in parishes of Templemichael, Streete and Carrick-on-Shannon before becoming Bishop in 1896. Spent one night in jail while PP in Carrick. Very active in building new schools and churches, much in demand as a church singer. Died Longford town 14th April 1927 and buried with his flock in the local Ballymacormack cemetery. Luke Baxter, Longford Historical Society.
