Murray, I didn't mind the "diatribe." It reminded me of historical facts that I knew but you put them together in a concise fashion. Per genealogynet.com, I found that Mary Hoar, dtr of David Hoar and Abigail Hitchcock m Alexander Mackenzie and died in Nova Scotia in 1787. She must not be the same Mary Hoar who married Martin Brooks and returned to the US in 1782. In Vital Records of Lincolnville, the listing for the marriage of Martin and Mary says, “Mary Hoar, dau of David and Abigail Hoar.” Abigail’s maiden name is not listed. In your message you indicate that David and Abigail were the only members of their families to leave Massachusetts. I wonder if Martin Brooks’ wife, Mary, was the daughter of a different David Hoar who stayed in MA and who had a wife also named Abigail, but with a different maiden name? Do you or anyone have any information about the Hoar family members who remained in MA? Were there other Davids who may have had wife named Abigail and a daughter named Mary? Thanks for your help, Jim Notify Administrator about this message?
