Dear Brenda,

I am not a descendant of your Dorsey Hoagland, but I am a descendant of the James Hoagland who was a pioneer Harrison County, Ohio. Tracing the Hoagland families who settled in Kentucky, the western part of what is now Pennsylvania, and the parts of Virginia that are now West Virginia is very difficult.

In an attempt to trace my own ancestry, I have devoted my time, intermittently, for several decades to the Hoagland families who crossed the Blue Ridge Mountains before the Revolutionary War. Based on that work, I have a theory regarding the ancestry of your Dorsey Hoagland.

I would be delighted to exchange information.

Sincerely,

Curt L. Sytsma
Des Moines, Iowa
