Kellie: I am going to give you some info that may or may not be of use, but somehow I think there must be some connection.

When the wife & children came to the US in 1893, there was the mother, Frantiska; children, Frank Jr.,Mary and Anna. The mother died in 1898 & is buried in the sw corner of the Catholic Cemetery in Crete, NE- but grave is unmarked as the money for the headstone was spent on the purchase of masses for her. Frank Sr. went back to Czechoslovakia in 1900 and fell in love with a woman last name of Kulhanek, Radostin, Czceh. Rep. He died over there and was buried in the woman's family plot at Vojnuv Mestic, Czech. The 3 children, Frank Jr., Mary and Anna all remained in the Crete NE vicinity.
Frank Hladky Jr. married a girl named Anna Jambour and they had 4 boys (Frank III, Edward, Leon, & Fred) and six daughters(Marie, Sophie, Helen, Evelyn,Lillian, and Emma). Mary married Josef Mares -their 3 children were Emma, Jack, & Frank. Anna Hladky married a man named Frank Renner and they did have a son named Joseph - but that would have been many years prior to your Joseph.

There are several grandchildren listed with the Hladky last name - they were born anywhere from 1923 all the way up to 1946-7, so that time frame would be about right for your Joseph.

Oh, some of the Hladkys are pretty talented musically... cello, piano, violin. Thought you might be interested in that.

My husband just finished doing a photo album with lots of family history in it - that's where I got this. (Oh, by the way, his name is Bob!)
