Thank you Robert for the quick response. You and I corresponded about a year ago and you sent me a lot of the research you had done on the 'Hix' family. It was all so great! I have one probate document that I finally received from Saline County last year that says that Amanda was Col. John's daughter but I know her mother could not be Martha Hix because that would mean she married her uncle. So, I'm still hunting for some connection. Perhaps Col. John Smith was married to someone else before he married Martha Hix. That's my theory. I still know nothing about Col. John's family. Thanks for your help.
