For those of you interested, I have an original photo of Captain Joseph E. Hitt of Mt. Morris, Illinois. Joseph enlisted 10/15/1861 as the Quartermaster Sgt. in Company "B", 4th Illinois Cavalry. He was promoted to 1st Lieutenant on 9/5/1861, and again promoted to Captain of Company "M" on 12/16/1862. Hitt was mustered out after fufilling his 3-year enlistment term on 11/3/1864.
