1810 VA Hitt Questions

I have been researching the Hitt family for a number of years. My wifes line dead ends with a Peter Hitt b. 1808 in Virginia m. Mary Roley. I feel that there is high probability that he decends from Peter Hitt the Immigrant of Fauquier County, Virginia, but where. I have tons of documents(marriage, land, will, etc) from Fauquier County. I feel no closer. I have seen a lot of the early research on the Fauquier County Hitt's, including the very well documented Germanna Record. No luck.

So I said start with the most basic information. Born in Virginia in 1808. Look at the census. In 1810 in Fauquier County, VA there is a Benjamin Hitt and a William Hitt.
Benjamin Hitt has 1 son 16-25 and he is over 45, 1 daughter 16-25 and his wife is 26-44.
William Hitt has 3 sons under 10, 1 daughter under 10, and 2 daughters 10-15. Both he and his wife are between 26-44. Interestingly, there are two Roley's on the same page on the census as William Hitt.

Can anyone claim this William and know where he fits in? or this Benjamin?
I suspect that this Benjamin is the son of Harmon Hitt, as little is known about him.

Could William be a son of this Benjamin?
My Peter had the following children: Margaret, Nancy A, Albert Thomas, John H, Lydia M, and Elizabeth C, and he is in Ohio by 1840.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
