Sorry, but I have very little additional information. Since Charles Hitchman is a step-father in my tree, I have not done any additional research into his roots. The only things I know is that he emigrated from England to the US in 1874, and was born July of 1857. My Line was apparently his second marriage; he had a child Leonard Vennard Hitchman, whose middle name is from the mother's (Mary Ann Vennard) maiden name. Not sure if Chas was married on arrival to the US or later; Leonard was born 14 years after the emigration. Charles and Mary Ann may be in some 1880 census somewhere, but they were not very complete in the Dakotas. Sorry I cannot be of more assistance
