"....looking for the fathers of Henry Hisey b. abt 1797 Va m. Catherine Cook and Joseph Hisey b. abt 1789 Va m. Elizabeth Firestone...."

Joseph Hisey b 12 Mar 1795 d 20 Feb 1865 m Elizabeth Firestone. He was the son of Johannes "John" Hisey (1758-1803) and Anna Maria Haas (1762-1845). After John died, Anna Maria "Mary Ann" moved with her youngest son Jonathan to Licking Co., OH where she died. Look for Joseph and Elizabeth in Fairfield Twp., Columbiana Co., OH in the 1850 census. I don't know what happened to them after that.

I only have one Henry Hisey born in this time frame. He was b before 1798 to Christian Hisey, Jr. and Anna Rosina "Rosanna" Fultz. Supposedly, there is a marriage bond dated 15 May 1819 in Shenandoah Co., VA for Henry and a Catharine Slagles or Sagles. Neither is a Shenandoah Co. name. The only bond for a Catharine Cook or Cooke in Shenandoah is for "Cathrine Ann Cook" and Philip Spengler. Jr. 22 Oct 1822. Anthony Spengler was the bondsman. Did Henry Hisey and Catharine Cook marry in Ohio? If so, you might try Warren, Columbiana, Licking, and Richland counties for information.

Good luck!
Arlene
