Harshmans to Hirschmanns
Hello,
I am a descendent of Andreas Hirschmann (Andrew Harshman) a German immigrant that is believed to be a descendent of Georg Hirschmann of Schorndorf, Germany. Andrew begot Matthias Harshman in 1761 in Maryland or Pennsylvania who begot Daniel Harshman in 1785 who begot John Harshman in 1807 who begot Limerick Harshman in 1832 who begot Nellie May Harshman who married Clark Forest Brown to wit I am 4 generations beyond that.
I am curious if this family's lineage is linked to the Hirschmann's of this group. Our coat of arms, granted by Holy Roman Emperor, Rudolf II in 1606 shoes a red and white Stagg upon the crest with a man holding red and white antlers on top.
At the time of writing, 1976, in the book "The Harshman, Hashman, Hershman, Hersman Family - A History and Geneology" by Colonel C.C. Harshman (the updated version of "The Harshman Family" published in 1932 by Rev. Charles W. Harshman) it was unclear how to link 4 brothers of which Andrew Harshman was one, to the Schorndorf Hirschmanns beyond probability of his German name, Andreas Hirschmann and his protestant religious background that he came from the region.
Wilhelm Hirschmann aided C.C. Harshman in writing his book on the Harshmans and gave him copies of family trees back to Georg Hirschmann. I am hoping more discoveries might be made to connect Andreas, Mattheus Ulrich, Ulrich, and Johann Adam Hirschmann ("the four brothers") back to Schorndorf roots.
Any and all information is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Tristan Brown
