Hipkins family of Colonial VA
Posted by: Larry Wood Date: July 08, 2000 at 08:50:56

I descend from Sarah Hipkins Fraser, who died in Adair County, KY 1854. She was daughter of Lewis Hipkins who left will in Fairfax County, Va 1794. Lewis was son of Andrew Hipkins, whose brother John left will in Essex County, VA 1759. Andrew and John were sons of Thomas Hipkins who left will in Essex County 1731 and Cordelia Upshaw Hipkins, who died in Essex 1771. Thomas Hipkins was son of John Hipkins, who was living in Middlesex County, VA at time his son Thomas got married there in early 1710s. Father of this John was probably Thomas Hipkins of early (1600s and very early 1700s) Northumberland County records, but this is uncertain. Interested in corresponding, exchanging info with anyone descended from or having information about this family.
