Stephane, I have written to over 50 Hiot families in France, and about half were kind to respond. Unfortunately, no one seems to be able to trace ancestry back very far. I received 2 or 3 trees going back to the 1700s. I had trouble communicating, since I do not know French. I hope that some communication can be established with French Hiots over the internet.
