For complete story, see my website: http://home.att.net/~ramosgang/Hinton.html Have James Hinton b. abt 1770, came to U.S. abt 1796 with at least 2 sons, John & Thomas (US locale unknown). Moved to Trafalgar Twp, Halton Co., Ontario. Both boys fought in War of 1812 on British/Canadian side. John had a successful sawmill by 1851. Both had many children - some descendants still in Ontario. Ontario land records provided ALL the details on these people (great source of info). My James Hinton, son of John above, b. 1826, m. Elizabeth Jane Ritenburg in Saltfleet Twp. Wentworth Co., Ontario. They lived for a time in Trafalgar where several children were born. By 1859 they were living in Adair Co., MO. James was killed in Oct., 1880 by a runaway horse team hauling logs. His eldest son, John Henry Hinton who enlisted in Illinois Volunteers for Civil War is my great-grandfather. Have his military records. This Hinton family of Missouri not to be confused with the NC Hintons who made their way to MO in same time period. Any more descendants out there? Any further info? Thanks!
