Thank you for your response. Some great info. I think you are one of the few who are starting to grasp the essence of my question - could Mary Frances Hinton and Frances Greville be one and the same person? I've found one other person who shares this idea with me, but so far no documentation. Could Mary Frances Hinton have been married to someone named Greville previous to her marriage to Nathaniel West?
I don't know if we will ever be able to answer that question in this life, but it's one of those fun questions to peak our curiosity at least. And in my case, it could be a link to my ancestry. Do I research the Greville line or the Hinton line?
The next question, once that one is answered, is what of the descendants of Frances and Nathaniel West? We know they had one son, Nathaniel Jr. (b. abt 1623 in Virginia), but all the so-called "experts" have maintained that Nathaniel Jr. had no surviving offspring. Yet, there are others who claim he had a son named Nathaniel III who carried on the line in England and later descendants eventually settled in Virginia and/or North Carolina.
So, which version of genealogical history do we accept?
Anyway, thanks again,
Paul West
