"Hanson Family Record" website, Hinson/Hanson of VA, NC, OH
Posted by: Jon Avery (ID *****5964) Date: January 01, 2010 at 13:17:15
  of 1982

In 1961, Alfonso Bernardo Hanson created a hand-written record of his family, the Hansons of Belmont Co., Ohio. Knowledge of this family starts back in Virginia in the early 1700s. The family emigrated to Olde Dobbs Co., NC and subsequently to Belmont and Monroe Co., Ohio.

The original handwritten pages have been scanned and collected on a website along with some results of supplementary research. It is hoped that the website will be of benefit to other researchers of the surname Hanson and related spellings.

The website may be viewed at:

While some of the earliest information is tinged with the uncertainties of time, the use of DNA may extend our knowledge of this family. We do have Y-DNA testing results which are valid back to the earliest men mentioned in this record. Men who have an unbroken male line of descendancy back along this family line are invited to consider having their DNA tested to expand our knowledge further. See:
