I was very excited to see your post because I have been at a dead end too.The thing that jumped out at me was the reference to Poplar Bluff. That is where my father's people came from, and the surrounding areas like Black Rock,Pocohontus, Walnut Ridge and Jonesboro Arkansas. And the name Thomas has been passed down thru the family. Our story begins in Alabama and they change their name to Hanshaw to avoid prosecution for having free range hogs in their possessionThey were twin brothers and they married Butler sisters. They made their home in Black Rock Arkansas which they had kin in Poplar Bluff also.
