I saw this on ebay. Not my family, posting info from its pages.
1859 Family Holy Bible. The binding is hard back, leather. The binding is weak but not thoroughly separated. It is intact with age wear. It is 10 1/2" x 7 1/2" x 3 1/2" thick. It has 1214 pages. There are no pictures. The significant's of this bible is the family history. The family name is Hinkle. This bible is from Upshur County, West Virginia. Being that it is over one hundred forty years old, it does have wear. The pages are discolored, the spine has loosened and separated at the top and bottom and the corners and edges are worn. On the inside cover, there is an obituary attached. The gentleman is Everett L. Hinkle. It states he died at Tennerton, February 16, 1916. He was married to Miss Annie Robinson. He was the youngest son of Miss Andrew Hinkle. His remains were taken to Hampden Church. It also stated that his fellow workmen of the glass factory, Tennerton Glass ? provided him with a big quantity of flowers. There is a name written in pencil on the next page, Andrew J. Hinkle. Between pages 928 and 929 contains the Family Records. The earliest record is 1836 when Andrew J. Hinkle was born. The rest of the births were, Clarissa- 1839 (Andrew's first wife) their children. Olive- 1850, Margaret- 1857, Isaac- 1859, Evaline- 1862, Maria- 1864, Mary Jane- 1865, Hugh Warren Hinkle-1868 and Minnie-1870. These were Clarrisa and Andrew's children. The second marriage of Andrew J. Hinkle to Miss Olive C. Marple on August 23 in the year of our Lord 1871. Olive and Andrew's children where Amos- 1872, Charles- 1873, Perry- 1876, Minter- 1877 and Oliver- 1880. Andrew was married for the third time to Amy Brake. Their children were, Ella- 1883, Oda- 1890, Everett- 1893 and Eunice Hinkle- 1897. Andrew has seventeen children. On the death page is , deaths of Maria on Sept. 25, 1864. She was just 5 months old. And the last death recorded was Clarrisa first wife of Andrew died May 5th 1871 age 32 years 5 months, 3 days. This bible contains the Old and New Testaments translated out of The Original Tongues. It was printed in New York, American Bible Society, Instituted In The Year MDCCCXVI, 1859. The New Testament starts on page 929. It was translated out of the Original Greek. There are no pages missing. This is a wonderful genealogy find.
