After years of (on again - off again) research, I recently
collected sufficient evidence to successfully link my Hinckley ancestry to that same Samuel and Sarah. "Your" Thomas is an elder brother to "my" John Hinckley who wasn't born until 1643-44 in Barnstable, Mass. I am, therefore 9 generations removed from Samuel/Sarah.
Having said that, I recall that "your" Thomas was at one time, the colonial Governor of the Plymouth Colony, and as such, is among the most notable (and most documented)of the early Hinckley's in America.
Regarding Samuel's parents......the names John Henckle and/or Hynckley "come to mind" - other Hinckley researchers having spent more time with the family will certainly be able to clarify and/or correct any misinformation I might provide herein as my research was focused on establishing lineage, as opposed to historical research.
In closing I will provide a link that I found to be very helpful in my research:

Best of luck on your research -and- may those individuals who assisted me over the years be as helpful to you as they have been to me.
