Himebaugh/Heimbach Erie Co. PA
Any of you that trace your Himebaugh family to PA are probably related to this family.
We start out in Lehigh Co. PA in mid 1700's as the families of Mathias, Peter and Adam Heimbach who came to this area (Adam to near Philadelphia), in the 1740's from near Baumholder, Germany, The ancestral village is Heimbach Am Nehe, near Baumholder. Mathias' son, Peter went to Delaware Co. NY, then to be a first settler at Ithaca, NY. From there he went to Erie Co. PA. His son was Mathias Heimbach/Himebaugh who m. Harriet Childs. Also another son, Peter married Eliza Childs. Some of this family stayed near Erie and some went to Ohio. A Chaunsey Himebaugh went near Canton, Ohio in the early 1900's.
I'd welcome contact with others who think they might belong to this family. I have extensive files.
