Hi, I am working on my mother in laws Hilyard line. She is from the Modesto CA area and her family lore claims descent from a Dec.of Indep. signer named Morris and her Hilyard line is Leonard Hilyard b: VA and married to Mary E.(REED??) and Leonard came from VA and settled near Stockton CA and later moved to Westport, Stanislaus co. CA. My mor in law is from their dauther Lilly Reed Hilyard b: 1854 in Utah Territory and m: 1875 in CA to James JONES and she had a sister Jenny. Does Leonard fit in with this group???
