Thanks Don: My records indicate Henry de Hylton was born betw. 1050-1066 and died aft. 1072. He supposedly started construction of the castle at Monkwearmouth, Durham, England on land given him by the King as a reward for his father's (Lancelot's) valor and service as a knight in which the son lost his life at Faversham, Kent. Henry did not live to see the completion of the castle.Henry de Hylton had one child, Edith de Hilton before 1063.
The "mad baron", Henry, was so named because he essentiallly gave away all the Hilton fortune, and the family never again enjoyed the pestige and prominence it once had.
