Hi Nicole
Glad to be of assistance if I can.
I can't find any record of a Vera in connection to Mary Jane.As far as I know Mary Jane had 13 children only 4 of which survived; Priscilla, Bella, Elizabeth and John Henry (my grandfather).John William re-married prior to my Mum's oldest sister being born in 1925 so none of my aunts or uncle ever knew her. We have always assumed that she must have died but it would be interesting if they separated and she had another life as this might be where your grandmother comes in.
Prior to my granddad starting a family John William had 10 more children to his second wife Annie Robson. If it's any help my granddad was born in Bradford, Lancs in 1900 and so if you want to look for evidence of Mary Jane this might be a good time and place to start.
John William died on 22 Jan 1945 and was buired in Runcorn Cemetery, he served with the Royal Engineers during the great war his number was 119434 (going from memory). I have 3 of his war medals and I also have a picture of him with Annie if you're interested in seeing him.
As yet I don't have any other information about John Willian such as birth or marriage date.
It doesn't sound very promising at present but let me know if you find anything.
Good luck and keep in touch.
Cherida
