Thank you for the report. I appreciate the effort. Unfortunately, and please please don't take this the wrong way, but none of the sources you cite provide documentation for Joseph and Rose's marriage, the supposed baptism of their daughter Elizabeth, and Joseph's baptism.
I did manage to look at a copy of the 1902 edition of The Hills Family in America by William Sanford Hills. On pg. 69 he talks about Joseph's baptism, but unfortunately the source for this is a report to the Hills Family Association (date not given). I have no idea who provided that report, so I don't know how reliable it is. This book also claims that Rose's maiden name was Clark but doesn't list their marriage date or place.
I also checked out 14 of the 17 sources Torrey used to support Joseph and Rose's marriage date in his New England Marriages. Actually, 1 of the 17 was the 1906 edition of The Hills Family in America by William Sanford Hills, so I guess you can probably say I checked out 15 of the 17.
Nada. Zip. Zilch. These books/journals all reference one another without providing actual documentation. Very frustrating. And, I'm disappointed in Torrey - I thought his standards would be better.
So, I think I will probably get a copy of the parish register and see for myself.
