Hills Family Genealogy Forum

Probably the best thing to do is to invite you to the Hills Myfamily.com site. There are some 200 or so researchers registered as members to share Hills research. It is a free site. We have records on over 70,000 individuals and the major Hills genealogies are on the site. You can make contact with the other researchers in a safe environment. Your research won't be exploited. We do have state records, census etc for both Ohio and Wisconsin. I will just send an invite to the email address that shows for you. Then it is up to you.
The "S" in Hills has been an issue for centuries. Savage's Genealogical Dictionary makes note that the William Hills family of Hartford, Conn insisted on the "S" in their name. In the 1840's a group of Hills by legislative act of New Hampshire dropped the "S". In Chicago, a prominent lawyer agreed to drop the "S" so as not to compete with an uncle, also a lawyer. I have also heard of probates where the estate was left only to those carrying the Hills name, although there were other heirs. And of course we are all aware of the Hill/Hills problem in research.
