With the help of another Hillman researcher in England, I have located the marriage record of James Hillman to Caroline Devenport (US spelling Davenport). They were married in All Saints Church, Sedgley, Staffordshire on November 24th, 1845. The marriage was witnessed by a Sarah Hillman (possibly a sister). James was baptized June 9, 1822(abode listed as Coseley). James Hillman's parents were Daniel Hillman and Jane Hughes. Caroline Devenport's father was William (a miner). Residence at time of marriage was listed as Princes End.
Daniel Hillman & Jane Hughes were married October 30th, 1820.
2 possible sisters of James were Ann born Feb 23, 1821, and Maria born April 3, 1825.
James and Caroline settled in Schuylkill County Pennsylvania around 1855 according to the naturalization papers of James. Two of the children Phoebe & Richard were born in England before they came. The rest were born in St. Clair. I have not been able to locate them in the 1851 or earlier census records yet.
