Edward Charles Hillis was born, according to his death certificate,in Stuebenville, Ohio in Dec. 1885. His parents are listed as William Hillis and Jennie Spear. He married twice. Alma Hutching was his first wife and died at age 32 of stomach cancer. They had three children. Ralph who died at age 23 in a car accident, Lillian Amato Hillis Miller who died at age 57 of cancer to the stomach and brain, and Elizabeth Geraldine Hillis Mckruit Rein who died in 1992 in Cleveland after four children and two husbands. Two of her children are still living. Edward's second wife was Faye and died Degroot. They divorced and also had two boys. Charles Hillis Jr. and John Hillis. Both are now deceased. Charles Hillis III is also gone but I cannot find any family for John in the Cleveland area. They may have moved to West Virginia.
Looking for any progenitors with info on this family. It seems they die young and have troubles. I found court records about abandonment and divorce decrees. The Hutching family was from Gallia County. The three original children were born in Columbus, Ohio.
