Ignore earlier message.I just went back and checked your previous message and learned that indeed you are looking for James Monroe - not John.
I can take the family back, but can you fill in some of the blanks about the children of James Monroe and Eliza Elmira Carson Hillhouse?
For example, Lottie A., b. 1876, married a BURLESON and lived in Brown County, TX and Ennis, TX.What was Mr. Burleson's first name, and did they have children?
Oscar F., b. 1877, married someone named Pinky. What was her real name?
Lela (Lilly), b. 1878, married Rufus Clark BURLESON.Was he the brother of Lottie's husband?Did Rufus and Lilly have children?
Edgar E., b. 1880, is one of my dead ends.
Peter is said to have died young. Is this correct? How young?Where? When?
Leon is also supposed to have died young.Same questions.
And the same for Caleb.
Bessie married Tom CRENSHAW and had two daughters:Lillian and Holly.Did either of the girls marry?Have children?When/where were they born?
Betty married Stanley WALTON.In true Hillhouse fashion, after she amrried against her father's wishes, she was never acknowledged as being a part of the family.Did she have children?
James Arthur, 1839-1937, married Lula Ethel CONAWAY.I have limited information about their 8 children.I have not been able to find an exact date of their 1915 marriage in Latimer County, OK, but I hope it was early in the year!
Wlater Ervin was born in 1891 and died in 1953; this was Ervin Ross Hillhouse's father, so I have his line pretty solid. His sister, Rowena, provided a lot of this line via phone on 8 Sep 94; I hope I got it all down correctly.
Anyway, James Monroe was the son of Jennett Isabella LYLE and Jesse S. HILLHOUSE.He was the brother of John, Francis, Patrick, Hugh, Martha, George, David, Elizabeth, James, Mary, Jesse, adn Sarah.
Jesse S. was the son of Elizabeth HENRY and David Sloan Hillhouse. All indications are that he was an only child.
David S. was the son of Mary DICKEY and James Hillhouse.
Hope this helps.
Pat
